Mission Statement:  Sovereign Learning Institute, Inc. (SLI) is an innovative and creative 501(c)(3) tutoring organization which offers parents a low cost alternative to expensive private and religious schools and an escape from failing public schools. Parents want to take back control over their children’s education and upbringing with effective knowledge and skills for success, based on parent’s beliefs and principles as the foundation.  SLI provides a Christian learning environment for children grades K-12, whose parent’s work but wish to monitor their children’s learning with assisted instruction and guidance.  SLI offers parents and students many educational supports, including five hours of daily core curriculum tutoring, music, art, and physical education, early drop-offs, and late pickups. The Institute believes in a Christian worldview, individual sovereignty, and self-determination. Parents choose the curriculum for their children and oversee their children’s progress, work quality, and assessments. Students are taught by self-directed learning, which instills an individualized learning pace and knowledge level.

Common Core dumbs down the standards for a one-size-fits-all approach.  In fact, both Dr. R. James Milgram from Stanford University and Dr. Sandra Stotsky from University of Arkansas  stated that the standards were not adequate for rigorous academics.  In addition, the Common Core has never been tested or researched for effectiveness. The cost is estimated to be $100 per student, compared to $5 per student today.  Academically, this is devastating; nevertheless, the data mining is Orwellian.  The data collection of parents’ and students’ personal information are going to create a surveillance state and socialist management system.  The government wants to track and collect data on every child from school to career.  When you add the data collection from CCSS, NSA, IRS, NCTC, CIA, FBI, and Obamacare, there is nothing the government won’t know about you.  The government believes that they can manipulate education and job creation for a better society.


Christians, Jews, and believers of freedom are not treated well in education. The news has revealed numerous cases of Christians and Jews who were treated badly because of their beliefs.  For instance, students in a high school English class were asked to “argue that Jews are evil, and use solid rationale from government propaganda to convince me of your loyalty to the Third Reich!” 

 

How was Education Established in America? The media and scholars would have you believe that America has always been largely secular, practicing “separation of church and state.”  However, what does the evidence show?  In 1777, Congress ordered 20,000 Bibles to be distributed among the states, because “unless timely care be used to prevent it, we shall not have Bibles for our schools and families and for the public worship of God in our churches.”   In 1789, Congress approved the printing of the first English Bible for schools and citizens.  The Capital was used for religious services from 1795 to the late 1800s for numerous denominations.  The 1787 Northwest Ordinance was the first law that addressed education.  The law stated, “Religion, morality, and knowledge, being necessary to good government and the happiness of mankind, schools and the means of education shall forever be encouraged.”
